Hi! We’re Oli & Liam.
We’ve known each other for a long time. Despite being very different from each other, our shared framework for thinking about the world has led to a long and close friendship that has driven us to establish a successful agency helping small businesses succeed in Australia. We thought we’d provide a little context on why we decided to start a marketing agency in the first place.
Despite shared ventures and successes throughout early high school, our paths eventually diverged as we both began exploring our unique passions and talents. Liam moved to Melbourne to capitalise on academic opportunities presented to him, winning multiple VCE Premier’s awards in the process, while Oli developed his craft and person in Canberra, diving into paid and personal photography and eventually (pretty quickly) losing interest in school.
Liam - identified during schooling as ‘gifted’ (which is, in and of itself, a contested and incomplete term) - would say that school failed to recognise Oli’s clearly heightened capacity for first principles thinking; ignoring conventional wisdom and instead breaking problems down into their foundational components, before constructing solutions from the ground up. Oli just describes himself as good at problem solving, which is certainly true.
Between the two of us, we possess multiple forms of neurodivergence that both help and hinder us in our daily lives, but we are proud of who we are and what we are able to accomplish. Neurodivergence is not a superpower, and we are not special. We are just different. The benefits often have their own tradeoffs; a hyperfixation, an inability to stop thinking about a given problem, a need for perfectionism, can all be challenging to our daily lives, but productive in a strictly economic sense - provided we are able to channel that energy, through clear communication with our clients to set manageable timelines, and careful organisation and planning to keep everything on the same path.
Without delving into cliche, both are highly critical of the academic system as a measure for filtering the intelligence of children, despite relatively polar experiences in the school systems.
Anyways. Back to the story - we have a tendency to get sidetracked. During 2022, Oli was living at Liam’s place with Liam’s sister and her mate, while Liam was juggling life in Melbourne. Oli’s always had an entrepreneurial streak, and by midway through 2023, he was running the National Zoo & Aquarium and Jamala Wildlife Lodge's social media, and absolutely killing it.
Liam, on the other hand, was thriving as a bartender, studying Law and maintaining his exceptional academic record, and figuring out how to adult — kind of. Stimulant medication has since helped significantly.
In March 2024, Liam came back from some time overseas, and Oli pitched the idea for a marketing agency that would utilise the speed and efficiency of modern technology to provide affordable, all-encompassing marketing support for small businesses. We would target businesses who had been priced out by larger agencies, or alienated with smaller agencies through flimsy results. Liam, growing disinterested in the monotony of his studies, thought they had the opportunity to do something really interesting, and so we got to work, with one goal in mind - helping the people that drive our economy.
Our first gig was with Purple Rain Café in Campbell, where we managed to boost their revenue by 20% in our first month during tough market conditions. Since then, we’ve been working with a bunch of clients, including hospo venues like Two Blind Mice and To All My Friends, as well as branching into health services through our partnership with Zyto Canberra, where we have significantly increased search rankings and website traffic, grew social media and GMB presences, and brought in trackable and sustainable revenue through paid advertising, . We’re still learning as we go, but we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far.
One ethos that we hold very dear is that every problem, be it logistical, interpersonal, or financial, has a solution. It just needs to be found.
More than anything, we love helping small businesses succeed. We’re here to share what little we’ve learned, and we’re always looking for new clients to work with. If you’re a small business owner, and you need more clients, we’d love to chat.
Thanks for checking us out!
